Advancing Women’s Health Equity Across East Tennessee
ASAFET provides marginalized women with the economic, physical, and psychosocial resources and support to equitably access the most effective form of birth control, Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC), at no cost to them. ASAFET is committed to creating equitable access to LARC to provide all women with the step ahead they need to advance in their careers, pursue education, and have control of their reproductive futures. ASAFET provides micro subsidies for LARC devices and well-woman check-ups associated with LARC (ex: STI/STD testing), coordinates and pays for transportation to and from appointments, and educates women on available preventive contraception resources in our community.
Reducing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Poor Maternal and Infant Health Outcomes through Reproductive Health Education
ASAFET’s reproductive health education programs advance equity in women’s health for marginalized and at-risk women. In education programs, ASAFET health educators provide women with the knowledge and resources to get a step ahead and create healthier, happier, and more stable futures for themselves and their families. ASAFET’s education programs are prevention based and cover a variety of topics including comprehensive birth control methods, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), empowering women, and full reproductive health to have lasting impacts of improving the reproductive lives of Knox County women.
