A 1 Learning Connections mission is to enable students to triumph in the world of tomorrow. They accomplish this by after school programs, summer institute programs, and professional development for teachers.

Drums Up Guns Down

Obayana Ajannaku

Drums Up Guns Down was designed to help address the cycle of gun violence. It teaches West African Drum and Dance to promote healing. Students learn healthy problem-solving strategies, communication, practical social-emotional coping skills through drum and dance. 

East TN Freedom Schools

Denise Dean

East TN Freedom Schools incorporates a “I can make a difference” mission to support children and young adults to excel and to believe in their ability to make a difference in themselves and their families, schools, communities, country and world with hope, education, and action. 

Iota Alpha Foundation 

Terry Mosley

Iota Alpha Foundation’s mission is to function to support scholarships, social action, and mentoring programs within the Knoxville area with a focus on East Knoxville. 

Karate Five Association, Inc.

Youth Outreach in Science Technology Engineering and Math aims is to empower underserved students by educating them through hands-on STEM experiences and engaging them in STEM through independent ownership, to facilitate a competitive advantage in the marketplace to build wealth and positively impact society.
