Anne and Charlie’s Story – The Epilepsy Foundation

A few months ago, Anne called the Epilepsy Foundation about getting assistance with paying for her husband Charlie’s seizure medication.  She explained that Charlie has state insurance, which allows him to get five medications paid for each month. However, on this particular month, Charlie had gotten sick and had to have an additional medication.  This additional medication meant that he would have to pay for one of them. Luckily, the Epilepsy Foundation was able to help. When Anne came to pick up the check for his seizure medication, she was extremely thankful and said that she didn’t know what they would have done without this help. Anne said that money had been very tight and that they didn’t know what they were going to do about getting his medicine that month. Without his medication, Charlie would’ve been at very high risk for seizures, but the Epilepsy Foundation ensured that wouldn’t happen. Anne and Charlie are forever grateful for the help they received.

United Way of Greater Knoxville is so happy to support and help fund an agency that’s dedicated to helping the people of our community in a pinch. Access to healthcare and medication should never be an issue for the citizens of Knoxville, and United Way and its many partner agencies fight for the health of our community. Change doesn’t happen alone. To live better, we must LIVE UNITED.
