Emergency Assistance – $80,000
The Salvation Army’s Emergency Assistance Program bridges the gap between income and expenses for our Knoxville neighbors living in poverty. Through tangible services including food, transportation and utility assistance, families are able to maintain housing and avoid homelessness. The program address immediate needs while also working alongside families identifying challenges and assisting with improved budgeting practices.
Joy D. Baker Center – $63,000
The Joy Baker Center is a safe haven for women with or without children experiencing domestic violence. Residents receive access to a secure facility, case management support, and coordination of resources to meet physical, mental, and social needs.
Operation Bootstrap Transitional Housing – $75,000
The Operation Bootstrap program provides structured support for single, homeless men and women. The program first meets basic needs of food, shelter and clothing. Then focuses on skills necessary for self-sufficiency such as budgeting, employment, and maintaining sobriety. Through Operation Bootstrap, we serve the underserved, a forgotten population that otherwise, would be added to the growing number of chronically homeless in our community.
“Our simplistic mission is to reach into the lives of those who are hurting, who are down, who are in need, to help them through the challenges in their lives. To carry them from where they are, to where they ought to be.”
Major David Worthy, Area Commander
